Preemption (Spot Instance)

The forced shutdown of a cloud instance by the provider.

GPU servers without preemption

Preemption is the short-notice shutdown of a spot or preemptible instance by the cloud provider when it needs the capacity elsewhere. That makes spot instances cheap but unreliable: an AI training job can be interrupted mid-run, losing progress. A dedicated GPU server has no preemption — your job runs to completion.
